Trey Ireland has practiced with Porterfield, Harper, Mills, Motlow & Ireland for over 25 years. After getting his undergraduate degree from Auburn in Civil Engineering, Trey worked at Southern Natural Gas as a Project Engineer. He eventually decided to go to Cumberland School of law at Samford University to get his law degree

Trey has been very involved in local civic activities. He served 8 years as a member of the Shelby County Board of Education. In addition he served as a Board member and President of the Shelby County Children’s Advocacy Center, aka the “Owens House,” which helps provide assistance to the abused children in Shelby County.

Trey and his wife, Margaret, have two grown children, both of whom graduated from the University of Alabama. Trey and Margaret are very active members at the Church of the Highlands in Birmingham.

While Trey’s practice concentrates on defending civil litigation, the type of cases he handles is varied. He has tried cases involving everything from large construction projects, medical and legal malpractice, correctional healthcare, premise liability, dealership liability, fraud and vehicle liability.
